February 17, 2012 1 comment

Here is the directions and guidelines for the new project where you will be creating a video production to demonstrate a Cold War theme within the United States. You will be creatinga propaganda production (can be a commercial, a short movie, etc.)

DON’T FREAK OUT!!!! This assignment is intended to be fun, promote creativity, demonstrate understanding in an alternative way, and give media production experience! I’m not expecting your productions to be Steven Spielberg caliber! Cold War Propaganda Project

American soldiers approach Omaha Beach in a Higgins Boat on D-Day.

February 1, 2012

Today we will begin covering the material in chapter 24 (The United States in World War II). We will be going back to Cornell Notes to cover most of this chapter. Today we will cover the main battles. Thursday and Friday we will cover the Holocaust (briefly) and the American Homefront during the War. If we make good progress, we will plan on having the test next Wednesday.

Here are the Cornell Notes for today: US in WWII Cornell Notes  We will not be covering Sec. 3 (on the War in the Pacific) in class. You will be responsible for reading it and completing the Cornell Notes on your own. I will announce when these are due on SpringBoard (based on how long it takes us to discuss this material in class).

New OGT Practice Blog

January 22, 2012 1 comment

Hello sophomores,

I just wanted to let you all know that I have created a new blog for OGT practice.

You can find it here:

Here is how it will work:

This is a new blog will have interactive discussions on OGT vocabulary terms. Every couple days, I will post a few terms and concepts that frequently show up on the OGT test. What I would like you to do, is look them up and when you feel you understand them, write out a brief definition/explanation of each in the comments. By looking at all the different explanations, it is our hope that you will gain fuller knowledge of the various topics. This is open and interactive meaning you are free to not only write explanations, but discuss the topics among yourselves (and with me) and ask questions. Please check this page frequently and make use of it. Your graduation may depend on it!!!!!!

Please subscribe to this page for the next month as we prepare together for the OGT.

The New Deal Presentation & Guided Reading

January 10, 2012 2 comments

Wednesday January 11, 2011

I am looking forward to being back today!

Today, we will see where we are on the New Deal projects and (hopefully) begin some of the presentations. I know some of you are confused about this assignment, but we will try to work that all out tomorrow. I understand that it has been difficult since I have not been there to give guidance this past week.

There is now a dropbox folder on SpringBoard for your finished PowerPoints. When you have finished, please upload it there so I can grade it (remember to include ALL names of those in your group!!!).

Also, there is a new Guided Reading on the New Deal (Chapter 22) here: Ch. 22 – New Deal GR  (Due Monday January 16 on SpringBoard).
